Red Crow Community College invites applications for an Adult Upgrading Teacher at the Main Campus to teach Alberta Education core courses (Grades 10-12), particularly in math and science. Teaching responsibilities may include both core subject areas and option classes.
General Job Description
• The teacher will be in an adult learning setting, instructing high school-level courses.
• Teachers are expected to provide lesson plans, unit plans, implement assessment practices per course and must be proficient with an online learning platform. Teachers maintain accurate, complete grades and attendance records as well as student documentation.
• Teacher must prepare and deliver structured lessons that meet the Alberta Education’s Program of Study and learning outcomes.
• Curriculum development must honour and include Niitsitapi history, values, culture, and language. The teacher will honour Red Crow Community College's mission, philosophy, and principles. Elders are essential to Red Crow Community College, and collaboration is required. Teachers enhance the learning experience when applicable with culturally relevant processes and content specific to Niitsitapi teachings and language.
• Teachers work effectively as part of the Adult Education instructional team; teachers work independently and in collaboration. They maintain professional relationships with students, teachers, Red Crow Community College staff, and other outside agencies.
• Teachers are required to complete extra-curricular hours in the area of student/college activities and events
• Teachers are dependable, trustworthy, and uphold confidentiality in all aspects.
• Teachers work within the quarter system of course delivery.
• Teachers offer students support one-on-one or in groups.
Qualifications
• A Bachelor’s degree in Education with a valid certification from Alberta Education is required.
• Experience teaching adults, particularly within First Nations or adult education settings, is considered a strong asset.
• A working knowledge of Blackfoot language and an understanding of Blackfoot culture are assets. The incumbent will deliver services with respect and understanding of Blackfoot culture by participating in activities that promote Kainayssini.
