Red Crow Community College is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of Research Administrator at our Main Campus in Standoff, Alberta. The Research Administrator will provide leadership and administrative support to the Mokakssin Research Center, ensuring the effective coordination, management, and development of research initiatives. This role involves supporting faculty and student research projects, organizing training workshops, and fostering meaningful relationships with funders, community members and Elders to promote ethical, community-based research practices.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide administrative and clerical support for the daily operations of the Mokakssin Research Center, including scheduling, responding to inquiries via phone and email.
• Managing and coordinate students involved in research projects, ensuring adherence to institutional and ethical standards. Including but not limited to hiring, supervising, and training.
• Plan and deliver workshops and training sessions on research design, data collection, analysis, and academic reporting for students and community members.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, community members, Elders, funders, internal and external organizations to support collaborative research projects.
• Work closely with the Finance team to develop and monitor research budgets, funding proposals, and reporting requirements.
• Respond to internal and external research-related inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
• Oversee and monitor grant applications from pre award to post award. And ensure reporting is completed for funders and the college.
• Ensure all research activities align with ethical research practices and uphold community and Blackfoot protocols. This may include the development and implementation of policies and procedures for research projects. Lead and support the Ethics Committee and oversee its membership and operations.
• Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with students, faculty, and community members.
• Work closely to build relationships and rapport with a variety of funders and the Tri-Council.
• Manage and maintain confidential records, files, and data related to research and ongoing projects. Collaborate with other departments and program areas within Red Crow Community College to support interdisciplinary research.
Qualifications:
• A Ph.D. in a relevant field is preferred, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a post-secondary research role. Or Master’s degree in a related field with seven (7) years of experience in a post-secondary research role.
• Demonstrated understanding of research ethics and Indigenous research methodologies.
• Proven experience managing academic or community-based research projects.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and community partners.
• Working knowledge of the Blackfoot language and an understanding of Blackfoot culture and protocols are strong assets.
