Red Crow Community College is a First Nations college with locations in Standoff and Lethbridge. Our mission is to meet the cultural, educational, and training needs for Kainaiwa and beyond. The college provides leadership through its programs and service to nurture self-realization based on Kainayssinni.
We are currently seeking an Instructor to work as part of the Niitsitapi Culinary program that reports to the President. The Chef will promote a positive and interactive learning environment with academic lectures and hands-on learning. The Chef Instructor will deliver the approved Apprenticeship and Industry Training program to support students and liaison with staff, board members, elders, and community agencies.
The Chef will have a strong culinary technical background and excellent communication skills while relating to students in a team-orientated setting. In addition, the Instructor must be reliable, trustworthy, computer literate and maintain confidentiality in all areas. The instructor will have demonstrable knowledge of all cooking methods and styles practiced in leading food establishments.
Responsibilities include but is not limited to preparing, presenting lectures and labs, developing course outlines and curriculum. The successful candidate will order and manage food inventory and evaluate student progress. The incumbent must deliver services with respect and understanding of Blackfoot culture by participating in activities that promote Kainayssinni.
A Red Seal or equivalent, previous experience instructing in post-secondary is an asset with at least 10 years of experience in a related industry. Must possess a strong knowledge of safe and hygienic food handling procedures. A working knowledge of the Blackfoot language and an understanding of First Nations culture is an asset. All employees are required to complete sensitivity training on Blackfoot culture.
