Red Crow Community College invites applications for an Educational Assistant position in our Adult Upgrading program at our Main campus in Standoff, AB. This role supports students through tutoring, course management, and developing learning strategies for student success.

General Job Description

• Educational Assistants support teachers in course development, implementation, and non-instructional tasks throughout the school year. They also keep accurate and complete records of grades, attendance, and documentation where applicable.
• Educational Assistants should be knowledgeable and experienced in inclusive educational environments.
• Educational Assistants apply their skills in instructional settings, focusing on the principles and practices of adult education and culturally relevant processes and content.
• Educational Assistants must have strong communication skills, be clear in speech and writing, and possess strong computer literacy skills.
• The Educational Assistant is personable, helpful, and capable of working effectively within a team. They maintain professional relationships with students, teachers, Red Crow Community College staff, and other outside agencies.
• Educational Assistants must be dependable, trustworthy, and uphold confidentiality in all aspects.
• Educational Assistants support the learning experience through culturally relevant methods and content specific to Niitsitapi teachings and language.
• Educational Assistants work within the quarter system of course delivery.
• Educational Assistants offer students support in a one-on-one or group setting.

Qualifications

• The Educational Assistant Certificate or a related program is preferred.
• A minimum of two years of educational support in an adult educational setting is required. Equivalencies will be considered for candidates with five or more years of work experience in an institutional or academic environment.
• A working knowledge of Blackfoot language and an understanding of Blackfoot culture is an asset. The incumbent will deliver services with respect and understanding of Blackfoot culture by participating in activities that promote Kainayssini.
